¡El espectáculo de confesiones! (Novice)
At the end of trimester three, students in Novice Spanish read the novel La clase de confesiones by AC Quintero. This short story centers around the dramatic and public revelation of secrets among a group of students in a high school Spanish class! However, much to the disappointment to our Meridian class, the novel ends before any resolution can happen. As a result, students decided to take matters into their own hands and re-write the book’s ending. Pashya, in Novice High School, created a comic strip to portray her ideal story ending while students in Novice Middle School worked in four separate groups to create puppet shows that expressed their own version of events. Students presented the puppet shows for each other as well as for several high school students in a performance that was recorded and posted below! Additionally, you will find below slideshows that include detailed character analyses of the characters. For these analyses, students chose one character from their puppet show (the same character for whom they created a puppet) and wrote about their likes, dislikes, friends, personality, appearance, and personal information (hometown, birthday, age, etc). You’ll also find an up-close photo of the puppet version of these characters, scripts for the shows, and images of students hard at work making their puppets! Enjoy!
Ivy says: I loved making the puppets for this project. I think my group was fun to be with and I would love to do this again!
Frances says: While reading the book, I always had little ideas of what the characters could have been doing differently, so it was awesome to be able to take the characters I know and love and put them in a different scenario. Coming up with the plot was fun, making the puppets was whacky, and the final performance was awesome. All in all, a great experience!
Izzy says: This project was so cool and hilarious to do we all got to entertain each other in Spanish and got to see each others creativeness.
Eleanor says: It was really fun to make the puppets and write an extra scene to the book. I had never made a puppet show before, so it was a good and fun way to try it!
Xander says: It was really fun seeing what other people wrought and it was really fun writing.
Sección A - Análisis de personaje
Genesee says: This project felt big to me, probably because it was one of the first times in Spanish that we’ve been assigned an assignment similar to something we might get in the other classes. I was really proud to write an entire page in Spanish!
Jojo says: This was a fun project to work on. We made our own scripts which made the puppet show a lot more interesting than just repeating what the characters said in the book. We also had some funny characters involved along with funny dialogues.
Sección B - Análisis de personaje
Akea says: This project gave us a lot of room to be creative and I really liked that. It was fun to make!
Eleanor says: I really enjoyed creating a character for our puppet show and writing about her in a character analysis. It was fun to invent relationships and a personality, and then I got to use them in our puppet show!
