L'Entretien d'Embauche (FC)
As students studied the vocabulary for Le Monde du Travail, and looked at more formal ways to interact with each other in French, they prepared for their final project this trimester: l’Entretien d’Embauche.
In order to prepare for the actual interview, students watched the 2011 French movie Intouchables, and studied two specific scenes in which the main character Driss is going through the same interviewing process.
They then prepared answers to typical job interview questions such as “What makes you qualified for this position?” and “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”.
After a round of mock interviews, during which students got to practice their answers, body language and ability to improvise when asked follow-up questions, they reviewed their performance in order to get ready for the final interview.
Cameron says of the experience: “It was honestly a little fun to pretend to interview in French because I couldn’t help but imagine myself living in France, trying to function normally. It was a little weird because this is probably the most “real life” application of French I’ve had since starting this class. It was nice to get a sense of my conversational French abilities.”
The result of their hard work can be seen in these videos.
And in case you were wondering… Cameron and Eli both got the job!
