Distinctions: Zayna (I2)
After learning about the Salvadoran civil war in the second trimester, I did some further research about its history prior to the civil war. Through my research, I learned about “la guerra del fútbol” or “the soccer war.” This four-day war between El Salvador and Honduras combined two of my interests: Soccer and El Salvador’s history. After reading several sources about the war, I wrote a research paper that examined the tensions leading up to the war, the three soccer qualifying games for a spot in the 1970 World Cup, the actual war and how it was resolved, and the effects of the war. I also made a timeline to visually represent the information that I had learned. Enjoy!
