Poetry Out Loud Compare and Contrast Paper
In preparation for the Poetry Out Loud performance, students picked 3 categories and 3 poems in the Poetry Out Loud "Poetic Terms and Forms" section. For instance in the "Free Verse" category a student may choose " I, Too" by Langston Hughes, or in the "Alliteration" a student may choose "She Walks in Beauty" by George Gordon Byron. Answer finding the poems students answered specific questions for each poem. From this point students wrote a one page reflection on how these poetic forms or concepts worked throughout the poems, comparing and contrasting each poem and its category. Students reflected on each poem in relation to its category in the poetic forms and terms page, then compared and contrasted these reflections, creating a one page interpretation of three poems.
