Cortometraje de poesía (A2)
When I asked Shanti what she wanted to do for her last solo project of the year, she simply said “I want to make a video, and I want to make it funny.” She hence decided to recite and record all twenty one poems she wrote inspired by Elizabeth Acevedo’s novel in verse PoetX. She came up with different personas, and incorporated props and effects to make each recital unique.
This last project was a great way for Shanti to work on one of her goals this year in Spanish class: to become more confident and fluent when speaking and reading out loud. During three days we recorded each poem, sometimes in one take, others (¡Oh, Contamíname!) in six. Regardless, it was a rewarding and super entertaining experience for both of us. Once all poems had been recorded, Shanti edited her video to create the final product you’ll see below.
We hope you enjoy her poetry short film!
