After reading Cajas de Cartón in second trimester, a series of anecdotes about author Francisco Jiménez and his childhood, we began to read its sequel, Senderos Fronterizos, which we finished earlier this trimester. The book focuses on the challenges that Francisco faces as he grows up as a migrant worker in the fields of southern California. Throughout the book, we see Francisco making decisions and experiencing certain situations that end up shaping him into the person he is today. Upon finishing the story, we wrote our own memoirs in the form of three short stories about important moments in our own lives that have molded us in some way.
