This year, I explored the intersection of queerness and religion, studying the ways in which the Bible has been used to justify people's stances on the LGBTQ+ community. My research led me in several directions in regards to oppression, liberation, and Biblical interpretations in general, guiding me to the understanding that it is not the Bible itself, but rather our interpretations of the text that give it meaning. However, this does not minimize the real and dire impacts that oppressive religious communities have had on LGBTQ+ people. To explore these impacts further, I conducted 11 interviews with queer people on their experiences with religion, and compiled them into a talking-heads mini-documentary.
