La comida y yo (I-MS)

During the first half of this unit, students worked on learning food vocabulary. To introduce this topic we first read two food-related poems “El supermercado” and “Arroz” written by Cuban author Alma Flor Ada. Students then tailored, rewrote, and recorded new versions of these two poems to reflect their own experience at the supermarket, and to highlight and describe a favorite food of theirs. In order to further improve their presentational speaking skills, they went on to create short videos in which they describe food items in their homes, a typical breakfast they consume each day, and three videos in which they compare and contrast different food items, while employing the equality and inequality comparison structures, and the superlative structures.
