For Division 2 MST this trimester, students began their foray into sustainability and the three major pillars of sustainability: social progress, economic progress and environmental progress. Students were tasked with producing a research paper that explored a topic from the perspective of one of these three pillars. The topics are varied in size and scope.
After they completed this project, they began their work on their linear programming posters. Linear programming is a strategy to quantitatively maximize a particular output using an optimization function and several linear inequalities that represent constraints. Students were tasked with producing their own scenario and optimization strategy.
