Difusión de cuentos (A2)
After reading and discussing “La manteca que nos une” by Magali García Ramis, “El ahogado más hermoso del mundo” by Gabriel García Márquez, “Continuidad de los parques“ and “Casa Tomada“ by Julio Cortázar, “La carta” by José Luis González, and “La carne“ by Virgilio Piñera, students in Avanzado 2 worked on adapting these and/or their original stories into listening experiences. We took inspiration from the podcast in Spanish Radio Ambulante and from “The Moth”, a non-profit organization based in New York city dedicated to storytelling.
Students could select to do two from three project options:
For option 1 they could adapt one of the stories they had written for their previous project, Microcuentos, into a listening experience by writing an introduction to the text, and identifying and using sound effects and music to enhance the listening experience.
For option 2 they could choose from one of the six stories read in class. Then they had to introduce the author and explain the main themes in the story. Lastly, they had to identify and use sound effects to enhance the listening experience.
For option 3, similarly to an example we heard from “The Moth”, students could write an additional story about a personal experience, a memory, or a topic of their choice. Then, if they wished to, they could use sound effects and music to enhance their retelling of the story.
Below, you can see where within their stories, students marked for added sound effects, music, and highlighted during pronunciation practices. You can also listen to their recordings. ¡Disfruten! (Enjoy!)
