Megan Talkington – Mathematics, Science, and Technology
B.S. in Biochemistry and English, Duke University
Ph.D. in Biology, The Scripps Research Institute

Megan has been trying to understand the workings of cells and molecules since at least the ninth grade, when she read an unsatisfying explanation of enzymes in her biology textbook — or maybe the eighth grade, when she swabbed classmates’ hands, cultured the collected life, and tested how well various cleansers could blot it out (surgical scrub, she is happy to report, was outstanding). She then trained as a lab scientist but soon shifted into communication and education, because she loves journeying into different fields and sharing the power and joy of understanding. Megan has written educational materials for patient families at Boston Children’s, built knowledge-sharing programs for professional scientists, written a digital biology textbook for undergraduates at MIT, and designed exhibits for the public at the Broad Discovery Center. At Meridian, she is thrilled to get to accompany students as they ask their own questions and seek out answers. Megan joined Meridian in 2024.
